On the unstable Adams spectral sequence for SO and U , and splittings of unstable Ext groups ∗
Let U denote the category of unstable modules over the mod 2 Steenrod algebra A, and let Ext(−) = ExtsU(−,ΣZ2). Let M∞ = H̃∗(ΣCP∞ + ) denote the unstable A-module with nonzero classes xi such that i is odd and positive, and Sqx2k+1 = ( k j ) x2(j+k)+1. Then H∗(U) ≈ U(M∞), where the left side is the mod 2 cohomology of the infinite unitary group, and the right side the free unstable A-algebra gen...
متن کاملOn component extensions locally compact abelian groups
Let $pounds$ be the category of locally compact abelian groups and $A,Cin pounds$. In this paper, we define component extensions of $A$ by $C$ and show that the set of all component extensions of $A$ by $C$ forms a subgroup of $Ext(C,A)$ whenever $A$ is a connected group. We establish conditions under which the component extensions split and determine LCA groups which are component projective. ...
متن کاملBracket Products on Locally Compact Abelian Groups
We define a new function-valued inner product on L2(G), called ?-bracket product, where G is a locally compact abelian group and ? is a topological isomorphism on G. We investigate the notion of ?-orthogonality, Bessel's Inequality and ?-orthonormal bases with respect to this inner product on L2(G).
متن کاملMultiresolution on compact groups
Given a compact group M, we de®ne the notion of multiresolution of L2 M with respect to an in®nite sequence of subgroups G0 G1 G2 such that G [k0Gk is a dense subgroup of M. We give characterizations of various axioms of multiresolution, demonstrate the existence and give the construction of a wavelet basis for L2 M. We also construct stationary multiresolution and wavelets from cyclic vec...
متن کاملCompact groups as algebraic groups
Aclassic result of [Tannaka:1939], in the formulation of [Chevalley:1946], asserts that every compact subgroup of GLn(C) is the group of real points on an algebraic group defined over R. Chevalley introduced a more algebraic approach to the topic, but his underlying argument is not so different from Tannaka’s. The literature since then has followed one of two threads. One is algebraic (as in Ch...
